Ear Acupuncture
Ear Acupuncture, auricular therapy, is a therapeutic intervention in which the stimulation of the auricle of the external ear is used to alleviate health conditions in all parts of the body. This practice is originally based on the Chinese practice of acupuncture, with additional integrated systems developed in France. This medical modality is utilized by numerous health professionals as a supplement to body acupuncture, cupping and moxibustion.
Both ear acupuncture and body acupuncture have their historical origins in ancient China. The basis of auricular therapy has numerous neurophysiological theories. Over a hundred acupuncture points reflecting all parts of the body are mapped within the ear. The ear reflects a drawing of an upside-down fetus. Each designated acupuncture point is paired to treat many diseases and can be used alone or in conjunction with body acupuncture. Ear acupuncture may be completed with needles, ear seeds, and electro-magnetic acupuncture. Addiction treatments provide a NADA Protocol providing a specific ear template of five designated ear points in each outer ear. For more information see Addiction Treatments, Form 023.
Indications for ear acupuncture include:
